We finally know the Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap, signaling a significant (and absolutely necessary) shift in its ecosystem. With the rollout plan now public, Xiaomi and Redmi device owners worldwide want to know if their devices are on the list so they can finally rid themselves of the dreaded MIUI. HyperOS is going to improve the Xiaomi and Redmi handset experience for the better, but who gets it?
The announcement of the Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap has certainly gone down well with the Android community, which also outlines a comprehensive list of devices set to receive it. We’re looking at flagship Xiaomi and a handful of Redmi Note series. The jury is still out on Poco handsets, so we’re not sure if they’ll be left in the MIUI dark ages just yet. The best part about this announcement is that we have absolutely no release date for a staggered or simultaneous worldwide release. Yes, we’re being sarcastic. Xiaomi has confirmed that HyperOS is coming to all applicable devices in the first half of 2024, so that’s something to go off for now.
HyperOS is not just a software upgrade but a reimagining of the user interface that is set to be a uniform approach to every Xiaomi device moving forward. This means a solid Android experience on Xiaomi’s smartphones and tablets, but that doesn’t mean HyperOS will signal Android 14 for all devices. The new operating system operates independently of the Android version running on the device, so why not complicate things further?
Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap follows the release of HyperOS with the brand new Xiaomi 14 series, showcasing the latest software’s capabilities. Following this, the detailed release schedule makes note of how HyperOS is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Xiaomi’s proprietary Vela IoT platform.
With a phased approach across different devices and regions, we’ve put together a conclusive list of devices listed in the Xiaomi HyperOS roadmap.
