Niantic introduces more encounters with the Pokémon Go map update

The Pokémon Go map update introduces some much-needed changes to the virtual mobile game world, out with the old and in with the new

For the first time in three years, Niantic is to roll out a Pokémon Go map update. The world is constantly changing. Some old roads need to go, while new buildings need acknowledgement – out with the old and in the new and all that jazz. So you can expect numerous alterations to the virtual world around you in the coming weeks.

However, it’s not just changes to the landscape that you can expect to see thanks to the Pokémon Go map update, but more ‘mon too. That’s right, Niantic is adding a change that sees eleven more Pokémon appear, and in places they didn’t necessarily pop up in before. Better still, if you happen to be in a rural area, the overall population of Pokémon is likely to increase.

Of course, an accurate world and more frequent encounters with Pokémon are both brilliant things, because the only way to become the very best that no one ever was, is to explore the world in search of new creatures to fill up your pokédex.

When is the Pokémon Go map update?

The update is to roll out over the next few weeks.
