Beyond this, the official Wuthering Waves Twitter has also announced the ‘Echo Summon Event’, in which you can collect echoes in order to gain early access to the five-star Echo, along with astrite (gacha currency) and other rewards. Wuthering Waves gacha system explained

Wuthering Waves features a gacha system as its primary way to obtain new characters (known as Resonators) and weapons. The banners in the game are called ‘Convenes’. In order to pull on Convenes, you need to use the gacha currency called astrites, or purchase the gacha tickets called tides.

You can purchase one tide for 160 astrite. There are three different types of tide:

  • Lustrous tide – you can use these on the Novice Convene, Character Permanent Convene, and Weapon Permanent Convene (similar to Genshin Impact’s acquaint fates)
  • Radiant tide – you can use these on the Character Event Convene, which is the time-limited character banner
  • Forging tide – you can use these on the Weapon Event Convene, which is the time-limited weapon banner

When pulling on any banner, you will obtain one of the following:

  • Three-star weapon
  • Four-star weapon or character
  • Five-star weapon or character

Naturally, the higher the star rating, the rarer the item – so you can expect to pull a lot of three-star weapons on each of the banners. However, if you don’t obtain a four-star weapon or character within nine pulls, the tenth pull is guaranteed to be a four-star character or weapon.

Beyond four-star pity, each of the banners has its own, unique rules, and you can read more about them below.

Three characters from the beginner and standard Wuthering Waves banners

Wuthering Waves beginner banner – Novice Convene

The Novice Convene is Wuthering Waves’ version of a beginner’s banner, intended to help you build up your roster when you’re starting out in the game. You can only pull 50 times on the Novice Concene banner, but you’re guaranteed to get at least one five-star character within those 50 pulls, and the banner also abides by the four-star pity system, ensuring a four-star within ten pulls.

You can’t do single pulls on the Novice Convene – you can only do ten-pulls. Luckily, though, they’re available at a discounted rate of 20% off, so for every ten pulls you only need to use eight lustrous tides.

Here are the rates for the different rarity items on the Novice Convene without guarantees:

  • Five-star character – 0.8% drop rate
  • Four-star character or weapon – 6% drop rate
  • Three-star weapon – 93.2% drop rate

No characters or weapons have an increased drop rate on the Novice Convene.

Here are all of the five-star characters that you can currently pull on the Wuthering Waves beginner banner:

  • Verina (spectro, rectifier)
  • Encore (fusion, rectifier)
  • Calcharo (electro, broadblade)
  • Lingyang (glacio, guantlets)
  • Jianxin (aero, gauntlets)

Wuthering Waves standard character banner – Character Permanent Convene

The Character Permanent Convene is Wuthering Waves’ standard character banner, which remains the same across all updates. You can still pull four-star and three-star weapons from this banner, but it only features five-star characters (meaning you can’t pull a five-star weapon).

You can either do single pulls or ten pulls at a time on this banner, and it costs one lustrous tide per pull. You’re guaranteed to obtain one five-star character within 80 pulls, and one four-star character or weapon within ten. This pity isn’t shared with the character event banner.

Here are the rates for the different rarity items on the Character Permanent Convene banner without guarantees:

  • Five-star character – 0.8% drop rate
  • Four-star character or weapon – 6% drop rate
  • Three-star weapon – 93.2% drop rate

No characters or weapons have an increased drop rate on the Character Permanent Convene.

Here are all of the five-star characters that you can currently pull on the Wuthering Waves standard character banner:

  • Verina (spectro, rectifier)
  • Encore (fusion, rectifier)
  • Calcharo (electro, broadblade)
  • Lingyang (glacio, guantlets)
  • Jianxin (aero, gauntlets)

Wuthering Waves standard weapon banner – Weapon Permanent Convene

The Weapon Permanent Convene is Wuthering Waves’ standard weapon banner. Unlike the Character Permanent Convene, the Weapon version allows you to select one of the five-star weapons that you want to obtain, and you’re guaranteed to obtain it within 80 pulls.

As with other banners, you’re also guaranteed at least one four-star character or weapon every ten pulls. This pity isn’t shared with the weapon event banner. You can either do single pulls or ten pulls at a time on this banner, and it costs one lustrous tide per pull.

Here are the rates for the different rarity items on the Weapon Permanent Convene banner without guarantees:

  • Five-star weapon – 0.8% drop rate
  • Four-star character or weapon – 6% drop rate
  • Three-star weapon – 93.2% drop rate

Here are all of the five-star weapons currently available on the Wuthering Waves standard weapon banner:

  • Winter Brume – broadblade
  • Winter Brume – gauntlets
  • Winter Brume – pistols
  • Winter Brume – rectifier
  • Winter Brume – sword

Wuthering Waves limited character banner – Character Event Convene

The Character Event Convene is the limited event banner – you know, the one that everyone looks forward to, because it always features those shiny new characters you just can’t wait to get? (We’ve all been there).

Each Character Event Convene features one five-star character and three four-star characters. Outside of the featured five- and four-star characters, you can also pull characters and weapons from the standard pool (i.e. the characters and weapons available on the standard banner). We’re unsure of the exact rates at the moment, but the featured four-star characters have an increased drop rate, meaning you’re more likely to pull them over other four-star options when obtaining a four-star pull.

In terms of four-stars, the guarantee is the same as on other banners – you’re guaranteed to obtain at least one four-star character or weapon every ten pulls. However, the five-stars have a slightly different rule here.

You’re still guaranteed to obtain a five-star within 80 pulls. When you obtain a five-star, there’s a 50% chance that it will be the rate-up one. If you lose the ‘50/50’ and don’t get the featured five-star, then your next five-star is guaranteed to be the featured one. We don’t know whether this pity carries on to the next event banner once the current one ends, but we’ll be sure to update this guide as soon as we know for sure.

You can either do single pulls or ten pulls at a time on this banner, and it costs one radiant tide per pull.

Wuthering Waves limited weapon banner – Weapon Event Convene

Wuthering Waves’ Weapon Event Convene is the game’s time-limited weapon banner. Like the Character Event Convene, this banner features one five-star weapon and three four-star weapons. You’re guaranteed to pull at least one four-star every ten pulls, and there’s a higher chance that it will be one of the featured four-star weapons. Beyond the featured four- and five-star weapons, you can also pull four-star characters and weapons from the standard pool.

You’re guaranteed to obtain a five-star weapon within 80 pulls, and it’s guaranteed to be the featured weapon. So no worries about pulling the wrong one here! You can either do single pulls or ten pulls at a time on this banner, and it costs one forging tide per pull.

And that’s everything you need to know about the current and next Wuthering Waves banner and the complex gacha system. Now that you’re an expert in terms like ‘pity’ and ‘pulls’, be sure to get in on some other gacha game goodness with our Genshin Impact codes and Honkai Star Rail codes guides.
