Love a bit of lightsaber action? Here are the best Star Wars games you can play right now, and you can check out our feature on handheld Star Wars games for some interesting facts. Also, here are the best multiplayer games on Switch that we recommend.

Is there a new Star Wars game coming to Switch?

There is a new – or rather, a new version of an old – Star Wars game coming to Nintendo Switch this year – the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection releases on Switch on March 14, 2024. The collection brings together Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II in one handy package.

The two games were originally released in 2004 and 2005 respectively, on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. But now, we can play them on Switch.

After this, we’re not sure about the next intergalactic title. We could see Star Wars Jedi: Survivor coming to the platform in the future, so we can take Cal Kestis on the go with us, but for now, this seems unlikely. It is available as a Steam Deck game, however.

While it isn’t a total remake, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection does include bonus maps and heroes, such as Kit Fisto. Both games support multiplayer, too, with up to 64 players joining together to fight in Tie Fighters side by side in the PVP shooter.

In terms of what players (and the Pocket Tactics team) want from future Star Wars games – the possibilities are endless. The franchise could go down the same route as League of Legends and create themed spin-offs in different genres – perhaps a farming simulator, or card battler? Or even a crossover with the likes of PowerWash Simulator? Stranger things have happened.

An open RPG with a morality rating is always a good bet, bringing us to new planets and corners of the galaxy to explore alongside a new cast of characters and helpful robots. Perhaps future games could focus on the Mandalorian, Ahsoka, or Andor’s worlds, too.

Will the KOTOR remake come to Switch?

At the moment, the long-awaited Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake isn’t announced for Switch. Given that we’ve not heard any updates about the game since it was revealed in 2021, this could change nearer to its release.

The KOTOR remake is set to come to PlayStation, and then likely PC at a later date – though we don’t know a release date for any platform yet. While we wait for news, you can play Knights of the Old Republic II on Switch, though.

We’re always speculating about what other games could come to Switch – here’s what we think about a new Harry Potter game, new Zelda game, and a new Mario game that surely must come out on the Switch 2.
