Genshin Impact design and merch
The main draw to the Genshin Impact edition over the base model is definitely the unique design on the phone and the Keqing merch. The phone is in the exclusive ‘Electro Violet’ colorway and features a gorgeous feather motif on its glass back casing that represents Keqing’s outfit. Below the feather is her name and the Lightning Stiletto logo etched delicately into the glass.
Along the top edge of the device, you can faintly see Keqing’s name. When the phone is in the right light, this etching shines the word against nearby surfaces, which is a unique touch I’ve never seen on a mobile before, though it only seems to work in very specific circumstances.
When you turn the phone on you’re greeted with a Keqing live wallpaper, custom app icons, and even ringtones that feature her voice. All of these things combined make this device a must-have for any Keqing mains or just Genshin Impact fans in general.
Now let’s take a look at the merch. Everything comes packaged in a sleek purple box with removable trays that house your goodies. I’m going to list the items going from the top of the box to the bottom:

All of these exclusive pieces are really high quality, and the custom phone case and SIM ejector are especially welcome, as I often find it quite hard to find nice phone accessories for non-Apple devices.
Genshin Impact gameplay
But how exactly does Genshin Impact play on the device? Well, the first thing I should mention is that, oddly, Genshin Impact isn’t pre-installed, so you do have to spend a decent amount of time downloading the massive file before you’re able to sink your teeth in.
After that initial wobble though, the game looks absolutely lovely thanks to the phone’s ProXDR display. I turned on the OnePlus 12R’s Hyper HDR mode, pumped up the in-game settings to the highest, and switched it to 60fps, and the game lighting looked absolutely gorgeous and didn’t stutter even when in the most intense of battles.
Another important thing to consider when buying a phone purely for gaming is how hot the device gets while playing. I traversed Teyvat for about an hour on the highest graphics and was pleasantly surprised at how the phone maintained its temperature. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely warm, more so over the back camera than the rest of the device, but as someone who is used to playing the game on an older iPad that gets burning hot, this is a nice change.
Should you buy the OnePlus 12R Genshin Impact edition?
Do you love Genshin Impact? If yes, this is an obvious choice for your next phone. It plays the game really well, comes with some gorgeous exclusive Keqing merch, and is catered specifically for your fandom. Are you not too fussed about Genshin Impact? Well, this is still a nice phone, but maybe you should just pick up the base model instead, as it’s a great mid-range device and much cheaper than the Genshin Impact model.
