Persona 4 Adachi is one of the more intriguing characters in the cast, which is saying something, considering how great the entire P4 roster is. There's a lot more to Adachi than first meets the eye, and he's a lot more important than he lets on, so let's learn all we can about him, including the role he plays in the story.

Here's everything you need to know about Persona 4's Adachi:
Who is Persona 4's Adachi?
Loveable idiot. That's the vibe that Adachi gives off, but his heart is in the right place, and even if he proves to be incompetent sometimes, you can't knock him for trying, even if you'd expect a bit more from a police detective. However, is that really true? Is he actually as incompetent as he leads you to believe, or is he so clever that he's feeding you a false image? That's an interesting thought, isn't it? Hmm, perhaps we should explore this further, especially as the investigation team frequently crosses paths with him throughout the story.
What is Adachi's personality?
Adachi comes off as a very friendly lad who just wants to do all he can to end the string of murders that plague Inaba. He's a cheerful guy with a jovial touch that often means he brings light to even the direst of situations. However, we have more to say about Adachi, but from this point on, we must slap a big ol' SPOILER warning.
We're serious, if you don't know a lot about the narrative of Persona 4 and don't want to ruin it for yourself, we highly recommend you steer clear of this next paragraph and skip to the 'Persona 4 Adachi's skills' section.
Okay, here you go. Everything that we've said until now about Adachi is a lie! This is just the way he portrays himself. In actuality, he's a ghastly being with little care for human life, and he cares so little that he murders people for his own amusement. Yes, he's the murderer who stalks Inaba, making him the main antagonist of the game.
What are Adachi's skills?
Although Adachi is a pretty skilled police detective, he's also extremely charismatic in the height of battle, too. Much like in the courthouse, he can manipulate his foes during a fight and has access to the midnight channel. So, don't write him off, because he's pretty handy in a fight, fairly adept at combat, and can make life difficult for your enemies.
