Resident Evil dogs: breed, appearances, and more

The Resident Evil dogs are an iconic zombie nightmare, but these Dobermans have more to them than just biting, so let’s learn about these horror game canines.

Resident Evil dogs, two of them in PNG form, superimposed on a mango yellow background.. Their fur and flesh has peeled away to show muscle and other gruesome gubbins. They are flanking Jill Valentine, a woman in the middle, also superimposed. She has a brunette bog, grey tank top, and army gubbins.

We all love dogs, sure, but maybe not when they’re zombified and ready to murder, as is the case with the Resident Evil dogs. We all love RE, too, but we love it for its ability to make us feel terrified, and the RE dogs are a perfect example of that.

So, if you want to learn about these horrific canines, check out all the details below. Or, for more RE scares, check out all the Resident Evil movies in order and grab a bowl of popcorn. What are the Resident Evil dogs?

The zombie dogs in Resident Evil are exactly that: zombie dogs. These animals have been corrupted by the t-virus, meaning their flesh is exposed, with skin flaking off and parts of their body appearing half-dead. Told you this was gory stuff.

These dogs aren’t the cuddly kind, as you can imagine. Instead, they’re out to kill, resulting in a violent encounter. Unlike some other enemies in Resident Evil, these pups have a lot of speed and agility, making them hard to take down.

What breed are the Resident Evil dogs?

Most of the zombie dogs in Resident Evil are Dobermans. Since the Racoon City Police Department used Dobermans as police dogs, this makes sense. All these cop pups on paw patrol got infected and turned on their masters. Heartbreaking.

Dobermans seem to have a bit of a bad reputation as aggressive dogs, but they’re not really. They’re big and affectionate, with their loyalty making them good guard dogs. This is probably where the aggression stereotype comes from. Or, maybe, their zombified ferocity in RE has something to do with it.
