How to get Rotom in Pokémon Go

You’ll need a Pokémon Go Rotom if you're really going to catch em' all, so here is how to get your own electric friend in different forms.

If you need a Pokémon Go Rotom, we’re here to help. Rotom became available for a limited-time in February 2024. However, Rotom takes on different forms. For example, the plasma Pokémon is primarily an electric and ghost-type but has different forms that give it different types based on the design.

But before we help you acquire Rotom, check your Pokédex, and get to know which normal Pokémon are the best and how to counteract any electric Pokémon weaknesses. Plus, here are all the Pokémon Go codes for some extra potions and coins.

How do I get a Pokémon Go Rotom?

Rotom was available by simply going outside and finding him in the wild while playing Pokémon Go. Players could get their hands on Rotom during a special encounter during certain quests, usually related to events like the Sinnoh Tour.

Part of the Sinnoh Tour 2024 involved a code that unlocked the quest to get Rotom. The Ghost in the Machine special research quest code is 0HY0UF0UNDM3. However, the event ended on February 25, 2024, so the code may not work anymore. If you did unlock the quest, then you can go ahead and grab a Rotom.

Which Rotom forms are there in Pokémon Go?

Rotom has a few forms, but only some are currently available in Pokémon Go. You can get the Wash, Mow, and Frost forms, which are the water, grass, and ice elements respectively.

The Wash form was an exclusive in a 2020 event, the Mow form was available in 2022, and the Frost form was the 2023 form. It looks like we’ll need to wait a bit longer to get the heat and fan forms of Rotom in Pokémon Go – perhaps we’ll get one this year. There was also a Heat Rotom, but the chance to acquire him has passed.

Can you get a shiny Rotom in Pokémon Go?

You can, if you’re lucky, grab a shiny Rotom when you encounter it. The shiny one has a pink body with orange electricity around it, making it a snazzy-looking Pokémon. If you do your Rotom encounter during the Sinnoh Global tour, you will have a slightly higher chance of getting a shiny Rotom.
