Mihoyo has revealed four of the gorgeous Mondstadt crew from Genshin Impact are getting new skins, penned as ‘Alternate Outfits’. They show little variation from their original clothes, instead taking the form of partial redesigns that switch around some colours and accessories. Mihoyo announced on Twitter, as well as in their official Hoyolab blog post, that the characters’ default designs will be retained, though rumours suggest that the redesigns will become their new default skins on Chinese servers.
The characters getting a fresh lick of paint are Genshin Impact’s Jean, Genshin Impact’s Amber, Genshin Impact’s Rosaria, and Genshin Impact’s Mona. The designs shown are for illustrative purposes only and may change before release, but we can see that our lovely Mondstadt girls are a little more covered up this time – with Jean sporting a classy, button-down shirt, and Mona clad in a pair of shorts rather than the leotard she usually wears. Regardless of the intent of the redesigns, at least we know they’ll be a little less chilly up in the peaks of Dragonspine.
We’re not sure of a release date for these alternate skins yet, nor whether there are more alternate skins in the works, but Mihoyo has told us to keep an eye out for a subsequent release window, so we can guess they’ll be out soon. We also don’t know whether they’ll be free or bought from the shop, though some players suggest that they should be given out as a friendship rank ten reward or something similar, due to the minimal changes.

We’ve also been treated to two brand new skins in the Genshin Impact 2.4 update, that are a lot more drastic than the proposed Alternate Outfits. To celebrate the Lantern Rite Festival, both Genshin Impact’s Ningguang, and Genshin Impact’s Keqing have received a beautiful new gown. Find out more in our Genshin Impact skins guide.
