Though she’s yet to come to the global version of the game, you’ve likely seen Tower of Fantasy’s Ruby in passing by now. This adorable gal appears in load screens, promotional images, and event art, and it looks like she may finally join our Simulacra roster soon, too.
While Hotta is yet to announce a Tower of Fantasy Ruby release date, many players are speculating that she’ll feature on a banner sometime in the version 2.0 update, along with the introduction of the new area, Tower of Fantasy Vera. So let’s take a look at the CN version of Ruby and see what we can work out about her best build, skills, matrices, and more.
If you want to dominate all ToF content, you should check out our Tower of Fantasy tier list. We’ve also got a bunch of build guides like this one for every character, including Tower of Fantasy Claudia, Tower of Fantasy Cobalt B, Tower of Fantasy King, and more, along with a list of all new Tower of Fantasy codes.
Tower of Fantasy Ruby
Ruby is an upcoming Tower of Fantasy character, currently only available in the Chinese version of the game. Keep in mind that all information on this page is based on the CN version of Ruby, and is subject to change come her global release.
As mentioned above, Ruby is currently unreleased in the global version. However, there’s some serious discourse over on the r/TowerofFantasy Subreddit regarding who the next character will be after Tower of Fantasy’s Cobalt B. Some believe Ruby’s next on the cards and will release alongside version 2.0 and Tower Of Fantasy’s Vera. Others believe it’s actually going to be Tower of Fantasy’s Lin next.
Without confirmation from Hotta, we don’t know what to expect – but as soon as we find out, we’ll update this guide.
Ruby is a DPS Simulacra who wields a flame weapon called Sparky. Sparky has flame resonance, and appears to offer some great utility in both ranged and close-quarters combat. Ruby’s shatter rate in the CN version is also very high, though her weapon charge rate is mediocre.
In the CN section of our Tower of Fantasy tier list, Ruby falls in the SS rank category alongside other heavy-hitters we’ve yet to see in the global version, so we expect a lot from this little bright spark!
Here, we list all the main stats for Ruby’s weapon, Sparky, according to the CN version of the game. Unfortunately, some stats are missing, but we’ll add them in as soon as we discover them. These are the weapon’s base stats before you level it up or equip it with any matrices.
The shatter ranking dictates how quickly Sparky can break enemy shields, whereas the charge rate shows how quickly the weapon gains charge.
- CS: Unknown
- Shatter: 11.50 (S)
- Charge: 8.00 (A)
- Attack: 16
- HP: 1,010
- Crit: 12
- Type: Flame – when your weapon is fully charged, your next attack sets the target on fire for eight seconds, causing ongoing damage equal to a set percentage of attack every second. Ignited targets receive reduced efficacy from healing
- Flame Resonance: when equipped with two or more flame weapons, flame attack increases by 20% and flame resistance increases by 40%
Here are each of Tower of Fantasy Ruby’s skills and attacks according to the CN version of the game. Note that this is based on Sparky’s level one stats, which increase as you level up the weapon.
|Spark Attack||Command Sparky to attack five times in a row.
First attack: deal damage equal to 84.6% of attack +4 to each target
Second attack: deal damage equal to 94% of attack +5 to each target
Third attack: deal damage equal to 101.5% of attack +5 to each target
Fourth attack: deal damage equal to 109.9% of attack +6 to each target
Fifth attack: deal damage equal to 253.7% of attack +13 to each target and suspend them
|Aerial Attack (jump, attack)||
While airborne, attack with Sparky four times in a row.
First attack: deal damage equal to 97/1% of attack +5 to each target
|Gotcha! (hold attack)||Hold normal attack to continuously fire a flame beam, dealing damage equal to 40% of attack +2 to targets in its path. Consumes stamina|
|Falling Flames (jump, hold attack)||Hold basic attack while in the air to trigger Falling Flames. Wrapped in an energy body, quickly fall to the ground, dealing 172.1% of attack +9 damage to surrounding targets|
|Imprisonment Cage (two basic attacks, one hold attack)||Deal damage equal to 40
% of attack +2 to the target, locking and burning them for three seconds, dealing damage equal to 26.2% of attack +1 per second (doesn’t work on bosses)
|Dolly (dodge, attack)||Throw Dolly, an entity that lasts for ten seconds, attracting nearby enemies, dealing damage equal to 84.6% of attack +4, and taunting the enemy for 1.5 seconds. Taunted enemies target Dolly. Taunting doesn’t work in group play|
|Sparky Crash||Shoot a Spark forward for 15 seconds, bouncing between you and the target, slowing the target’s movement and attack speed for four seconds. The cooldown for this is 15 seconds. The farther the distance, the higher Sparky’s damage increases, up to 700% of attack +37 damage. Also applies the ‘hot’ mark to the enemy for 25 seconds, and releases four bullets, each dealing 50% of attack +3 damage. Sparky’s basic attack on targets with the ‘hot’ mark increases to 110%. If the target is affected by a burn inflicted by you when Spark hits them, it triggers a burn or ignite to deal an additional 100% of the remaining total damage if multiple burns or ignites are combined. The cooldown for this is six seconds. Skill cooldown is 30 seconds.|
|Passive||During the existence of Spark, every time Sparky’s basic attack deals one damage, gain one stack of Heat Energy, up to one every 0.9 seconds. Max eight stacks. At max stacks, gain Ultimate Heat Energy, increasing flame attack by 25% for 25 seconds|
|Supernova Explosion||When weapon charge is full or Phantasia is triggered, switch to this weapon to cleanse yourself of all debuffs. Sparky changes form, continuously shooting a large flame beam forward. It explodes at the end, dealing 750% of attack +39 damage. If the target is affected by a burn inflicted by you, this ignites the burn, dealing damage equal to 100% of the remaining total damage, During the six-second cooldown period, the skill is immune to damage for 2.6 seconds (not applicable in Apex League)|
You can advance Tower of Fantasy weapons by using their corresponding fusion cores, which you get by collecting more than one copy of a character. After you get your first copy of Ruby and Sparky, you can purchase another copy through the limited store during her banner for 120 flame gold. Alternatively, you can get a duplicate of Ruby by pulling on the banner, but, of course, this is entirely up to RNG.
Advancing your weapons by spending fusion cores and gold unlocks special bonuses. Here are all of the bonuses you gain from unlocking each of Ruby’s advancement stars.
- One star: Scorching Heat increases Sparky’s basic attack damage to 182%. Weapon skill cooldown reduces to 24 seconds
- Two stars: increases Sparky’s base attack growth by 16%
- Three stars: Scorching Heat incidental fire damage increases by 18%, and scorch settlement multiplier increases to 150%
- Four stars: increases Sparky’s base attack growth by 32%
- Five stars: each time Sparky’s basic attack hits an enemy, restore 75 weapon charge. The cooldown is 0.9 seconds. During Ultimate Heat, shatter value increases by 25%
- Six stars: Scorching Heat increases Sparky’s basic attack damage to 240% and doubles the effectiveness of ‘heat’. Weapon skill cooldown reduces to 15 seconds
As is the case with other Tower of Fantasy SR and SSR characters, Ruby has her own matrices which will likely be featured on a matrix banner during her debut. This is the best set for her in most situations, due to its dramatic buff to her flame damage, and its useful shielding. Alternatively, combining two pieces of Samir’s set with two pieces of Shiro’s set is great for boosting Sparky’s damage and shatter even further.
The best SR option for Ruby has to be Sobek’s Swamp Shadow, which is great against large groups of enemies, like those in the Bygone Phantasm. For more information on the different sets available, check out our Tower of Fantasy matrices guide.
|ToF matrix set||Rarity||Effect|
|Ruby (CN version, subject to change)||SSR||Two equipped: after using your weapon skill, increases flame attack by 15%/18%/21%/25% for 25 seconds. The effect works in the background, and if you use multiple sets, the highest star set takes effect (doesn’t stack)
Four equipped: after using your weapon skill, gain mastery for 15 seconds, with a cooldown of 15 seconds. While mastery is active, successful basic attacks increase flame damage by 4%/5%/6%/7%, up to six stacks, with a cooldown of 0.2 seconds between stacks. At six stacks, gain a shield to resist damage on time. Mastery can’t be stacked, and different levels of mastery share a cooldown
|Samir||SSR||Two equipped: increases your damage progressively by 1% upon hitting a target. Stack up to 10/13/16/20 times. Lasts 1.5 seconds
Four equipped: increase Dual EM Stars’ electrical explosion damage by 16%/22%/30%/40% of attack
|Shiro||SSR||Two equipped: increases both damage and shatter to targets with more than 50% HP by 15%/19%/22.5%/26%
Four equipped: upon entering battle, gain a 20%/25%/30%/35% damage boost for 35 seconds. Resets five seconds after exiting battle
|Sobek||SR||Three equipped: increases damage dealt by 6%/7.5%/9% for each enemy nearby. Up to three stacks|
To upgrade Ruby, you need firecore, acidproof glazes, and nanofiber frames. You can get boxes containing acidproof glazes and nanofiber frames as rewards from Dimensional Trials, Interstellar Exploration, Omnium Beacons, and the weapon store. You can find firecore while out exploring, or by using elemental shard boxes. For more help locating materials, check out our Tower of Fantasy map guide.
We don’t know all of Tower of Fantasy Ruby’s favourite gifts yet, but we do know she prefers items with the games, toys, and Vera tags. Additionally, as she’s a Vera character, you get a smaller amount of awakening points from gifts from outside of Vera.
Giving Ruby gifts earns you awakening points. When you hit certain awakening progress milestones, you also unlock recollection rewards. Here are all of Tower of Fantasy Ruby’s awakening rewards.
Keep in mind that you can use a Simulacra’s unlocked trait without taking on their appearance by toggling the ‘use Simulacra trait’ switch underneath them on the Simulacra selection page.
|Awakening points||Recollection reward|
|1,200||Ruby trait – enemies within five metres of Dolly receive 8% more flame damage. This effect does not stack|
|4,000||Ruby trait – enemies within five metres of Dolly receive 12% more flame damage for ten seconds. This effect does not stack|
