His best light cone is Those Many Springs, and the best relic set for Jiaoqiu is the Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters – especially paired with a set of Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise planar ornaments. He fits in very well in both debuff-focused and damage over time teams, or mono-fire if that’s what you’re into.
What are the best light cones for Jiaoqiu?
A light cone that boosts effect hit rate is key for Jiaoqiu. His signature light cone, Those Many Springs, is his best in slot as it fits his kit perfectly. There are some other great four-star options, especially Eyes of the Prey, that can work very well for him too.
Light Cone | Effect | How to obtain |
Those Many Springs (five-star) | Increases Jiaoqiu’s effect hit rate by 50%. After he uses a basic attack, skill, or ultimate to attack an enemy, there is a 60% base chance to inflict Unarmored. When in the Unarmored state, enemy targets take increased damage for two turns. If the target is under damage over time state inflicted by Jiaoqiu, there is a 60% chance to upgrade Unarmored to Cornered, which deals even more damage for two turns | Light cone banner alongside Jiaoqiu |

- Planar sphere – fire damage bonus

What are the best Jiaoqiu team comps?
Jiaoqiu is a nihility character that dishes out damage over time, but also applies debuffs to enemies. This makes him quite flexible in terms of team comps. He works especially well with Acheron, but can slot nicely into a Dr. Ratio or Kafka team focusing on debuffs or damage over time.
Note that while using Jiaoqiu in a team with Pela is excellent for hampering enemies, be careful using his ultimate on frozen enemies. His character trial places him in a team with Misha, but the freeze aspect of Misha’s kit means that the stacks from Jiaoqiu’s ultimate do not hold up. This isn’t the biggest issue, but it is something to note.
What are Jiaoqiu’s abilities?
Here’s Jiaoqiu’s entire kit, including which skills apply Ashen Roast, and which can do a hefty, fiery, bit of damage to the entire enemy lineup.
Active skills:
Skill | Effect |
Basic attack: Heart Afire | Deals fire damage to a single target enemy, based on Jiaoqiu’s attack stat |
Skill: Scorch Onslaught | Deals heavy fire damage to a single target enemy and less fire damage to adjacent targets. This skill has a 100% base chance to inflict one stack of Ashen Roast on the primary target |
Ultimate: Pyrograph Arcanum | Sets the number of Ashen Roast stacks on an enemy to the highest possible number. Jiaoqiu then activates a Zone to deal fire damage based on his attack stat to all enemies. While in the Zone, enemies take increased ultimate damage and have a >50% base chance of getting one stack of Ashen Roast. While the Zone exists, this can trigger six times. For each enemy target, it can trigger once per turn. This resets every time Jiaoqiu uses his ultimate. The Zone lasts for three turns and disappears if Jiaoqiu is knocked out |
Talent:
Skill | Effect |
Quartet Finesse, Octave Finery | When Jiaoqiu hits an enemy with a basic attack, skill, or ultimate, there is a 100% base chance to inflict one stack of Ashen Roast on them. At one stack, they take higher damage, which builds up the more stacks they get. Ashen Roast caps at five stacks, and lasts for two turns. When an enemy gets inflicted with Ashen Roast, they are also considered as Burned, taking fire damage over time based on Jiaoqiu’s attack |
Technique:
Skill | Effect |
Fiery Queller | After using his technique, Jiaoqiu creates a dimension, lasting 15 seconds, that inflicts fire damage onto enemies when entering battle. This is equal to 100% of Jiaoqiu’s attack stat, with a 100% base chance to inflict Ashen Roast |
Bonus abilities:
Skill | Effect |
Hearth Kindle | For every 15% of Jiaoqiu’s effect hit rate over 80%, his attack increases by 60%, up to a maximum of 240% |
Pyre Cleanse | Regenerates 15 energy at the beginning of battle |
Seared Scent | While the Zone exists, enemies entering combat get Ashen Roast. The number of stacks matches the highest number of stacks currently possessed by any unit on field |
