Is there a new Kirby game in 2026? It's a fair question. The Pink Puffball is a beloved mascot who's appeared in many games since his debut in Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy in 1992. He has adventures across many Nintendo consoles, including the NES, the GBA, Nintendo 64, DS, Wii, the Nintendo 3DS, and, of course, the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Is there a new Kirby game in 2026?
While there are no new Kirby games set to release in 2026, we did get two new games in the series in 2025. The first of these was Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World. You might recognize the name, and that's because Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a 2022 Nintendo Switch game that got spruced up for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The second new Kirby game to arrive in 2025 was one of the more surprising announcements from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: Kirby Air Riders. That's right, it's a sequel to the popular GameCube game Kirby Air Ride, which turned 22 years old in 2025. It's not just Mario who's ready to hit the track again, but this kart racer isn't for the faint of heart, as you can see in our Kirby Air Riders review.
New Kirby game platforms
Both new Kirby games are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, meaning you need to get your hands on the new hardware if you want to experience them. Plus, as Kirby is a beloved first-party IP, you shouldn't ever expect to see the Pink Puffball anywhere but on a Nintendo console.
What will the new Kirby game be like?
As these Kirby games are an enhancement and a sequel, respectively, we can tell you exactly what to expect from them. In Kirby and the Forgotten Land, you can expect to explore a pseudo-open world, complete puzzles, and enjoy some 3D action-platforming goodness. As for Kirby Air Riders, it's a racing game, so you'll be tearing it up on the track, using items and skill to win.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World released on August 28, 2025. Kirby Air Riders, meanwhile, launched on November 20, 2025.
