Dark Souls – Switch

The life of a knight isn’t glamorous. Allow Dark Souls to show you why. Lordran is full of dragons, enemies, battles, history, swords, armour, and it even has a princess – of sorts, she’s more of a goddess really, so don’t go into this expecting to be her hero or anything. In all seriousness, Dark Souls isn’t a typical knight game, but it does allow you to be one, should that be the approach you want to take to combat.

This RPG is one of the best there is, and while it’s not for everyone, it’s a fantastic, albeit challenging, experience for those that do dare to tread into Lordran, a place where a curse plagues the land. Throughout your time here, you face many tough foes, including some incredibly powerful bosses. Fortunately for you, Chosen Undead, we’ve put together a Dark Souls bosses guide to help you put them in their place.

Shovel Knight – Switch

What a gem. Shovel Knight is a fantastic 2D side-scrolling platform game that sees you play as a knight that uses a shovel as his main means of attacking people. How handy is that? Just dig a hole and smack them into it. Okay, in all seriousness, the shovel is for digging up treasures besides being an object for offensive purposes. The 8-bit pixelated graphics are a treat, it gives you a certain sense of nostalgia. Furthermore, the gameplay is fun, you venture across unique environments, and there are plenty of enemies to fight.

Knight games Hollow KnightBuy it here

Hollow Knight – Switch

There’s nothing hollow about Hollow Knight. The game is a treat from start to finish and is jam-packed with content – you’ll lose hours of your life to this Metroidvania title, but what a great way to kill some time. You play as a nameless knight that explores the lands of Hallownest. On your journey, you encounter many enemies, plenty of which are insanely powerful bosses that can squash you.

Fortunately for you, we’ve got a Hollow Knight bosses guide to help you best those pesky foes, as well as Hollow Knight pale ore and Hollow Knight mask shard guides. If you’re not new to this gem, but would like to play something similar, our list of the best games like Hollow Knight is the place to be.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – mobile and Switch

No, I’m not crazy (debatable). KOTOR is a knight game. It’s just set in a galaxy far, far away where swords are primitive, and lightsabers are where it’s at. Perhaps the best thing about Bioware’s legendary RPG is that you get to choose your path. Do you walk the path of the light side, or embrace the force for all its worth and be a powerful ally to the dark side? Only you can decide.

If you want to know more about KOTOR, head over to our Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Switch review to discover why we think ‘it’s a phenomenal RPG, one that has withstood the tests of time.’ We also happen to have a list of the best Star Wars games in case yousa want to see what else is on offer in a galaxy far, far away, okieday.

Knight Games Kingdoms of AmalurBuy it here

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning – Switch

The amount of freedom available to you in Kingdoms of Amalur is fantastic. It’s a criminally underrated RPG – that’s my hill, and I’ll defend it to the bitter end. At the start of the game, you choose your race, and one of three classes, might, finesse, or sorcery. As the names imply, they correspond to a fighter, rogue, and mage – three distinctive ways to approach combat.

To top it off, the story in Kingdoms of Amalur is good, and it affords you the right to make plenty of crucial decisions that have long-lasting repercussions. The fact you can explore plenty of gorgeous landscapes doesn’t hurt either.

Any Mario game – Switch

I don’t care what anybody says. The amount of times Mario has gone on an adventure to save a princess is so ridiculous that we all must bend a knee to the Italian plumber. Technically no, he isn’t a knight, but if Princess Peach doesn’t think of Mario as her knight in shining armour, he should just leave her to Bowser.

Just check out our list of the best Mario games to see how many times this guy saves the day.

There you have it, the best knight games on Switch and mobile. Now go forth, brave knight, forge your way in this world and become a legend. Or go and retire on an idyllic farm with our best games like Stardew Valley list.
