The Genshin Impact Fatui Harbingers are always causing trouble, and it's best to keep your enemies close, so let's look at their names, ranks, and more.

Genshin Impact Fatui Harbingers stood around a table

If you’ve been wandering around Teyvat for any amount of time, you’ve likely heard of Genshin Impact’s Fatui Harbingers. As Paimon says, the Fatui are always involved in just about every step of your journey, and those Harbingers are at the top. Of course, they’re not all as friendly as our favourite Schneznayan rascal, Childe, either – so let’s take a look at who they are, their rankings, their motivations, and more.

Who are the Genshin Impact Fatui Harbingers?

The Fatui Harbingers are the executive heads of the Fatui, the most wealthy and politically influential members of Snezhnayan society, and the Tsaritsa’s closest and most trusted followers. They act as lieutenants and have ‘absolute authority’, though their duty, above all, is forever in the interest of furthering the Tsaritsa’s goals.

Though they all have their own abilities, the Tsaritsa also gifts them Delusions to enhance their power – artificial Visions known for draining the user’s vitality in exchange for extreme power. Each of the Fatui Harbingers leads their own division within the Fatui and takes a codename from the Commedia Dell’arte, a type of Italian theatre in which performers use masks to portray their character’s role in the story.

What are the Genshin Impact Harbinger rankings?

Currently, the rankings of each of the Fatui Harbingers are unclear, though we do know that, upon becoming a Harbinger, the Tsaritsa gives each of them a codename and a rank. Here’s what we know so far.

  • First Fatui Harbinger – Pierro
  • Second Fatui Harbinger – Dottore
  • Third Fatui Harbinger – Pulcinella
  • Sixth Fatui Harbinger – none, but previously Scaramouche (this position has been vacant for hundreds of years as of Archon Quest The Night-Bird Falls at the Curtain’s Call in Interlude Chapter: Act III – Inversion of Genesis)
  • Seventh Fatui Harbinger – Sandrone
  • Eighth Fatui Harbinger – none, previously La Signora (now deceased, no one has reclaimed the title)
  • Ninth Fatui Harbinger – Pantalone
  • Eleventh Fatui Harbinger – Tartaglia

Currently, we don’t know what rank Capitano and Arlecchino fall in. However, we can see that the Fourth Fatui Harbinger and Tenth Fatui Harbinger remain unconfirmed.

Due to each Harbinger’s ranking number being based on their individual power and overall contribution to the Tsaritsa’s cause in comparison with other members, and from what we know about each of the characters so far, we predict that Capitano is fourth and Arlecchino is tenth – but we’ll have to wait and see.

During the Sumeru archon quests, Genshin Impact’s Nahida shares an intriguing piece of information with us regarding the highest-ranking Fatui. She claims that ‘the top-ranked Fatui Haringers, up to No. 3, possess power comparable to that of gods’, going on to say ‘I was no match for him (Dottore) in that kind of situation’.

We’ve already seen a glimpse of what Dottore can do, but it’s interesting to think that both Pierro and Pulcinella are equally as powerful as him, and the three of them can take on the gods – leading us to believe that we’ll likely see them challenging the archons across Genshin Impact’s Fontaine, Genshin Impact’s Natlan, and any other future locations that we vist.

What do the Genshin Impact Fatui Harbingers do?

Each of the Fatui Harbingers has their own unique methodologies, motivations, and skills, so they approach their tasks independently and often squabble with each other, as seen in the Winter Night’s Lazzo teaser trailer. Their main unified goal also remains relatively vague, other than to carry out the will of The Tsaritsa and to manipulate and intimidate the other nations of Teyvat to bend them to her will.

What we do know is that the Fatui Harbingers are the core players in the Tsaritsa’s plan to acquire the other Archons’ Gnoses, though her reason for collecting these is still unconfirmed – but we suspect that it’s to do with her hatred of Celestia, and her drive to ‘burn away the old world’ after the horrors of the Cataclysm.

It currently seems that the Fatui Harbingers are spread across Teyvat, allowing the Tsaritsa to keep tabs on each of the nations from afar as they carry out duties to further her plans. From the Osial incident in Liyue Harbour to the Fatui interference during the Vision Hunt Decree in Inazuma, and now Dottore’s shady dealings in Sumeru, at least one of the Harbingers appears to be in some way involved with the chaos that the Traveler faces at each turn of their journey.

But the biggest question of all is when we finally get to see the bigger picture of what the Tsaritsa and her Harbingers have been up to, will we come to understand the chaos and sacrifices as necessary for the greater good? Or are all of these actions the equivalent of starting a fire in hopes of putting another out? Either way, we know that the Fatui Harbingers aren’t going anywhere any time soon – and, in fact, two members have joined us on our journey already.

That’s all we’ve got on the Genshin Impact Fatui Harbingers for now. We’ll be sure to update this guide if any more shenanigans and schemes crop up, but in the meantime, be sure to check out our list of the best games like Genshin Impact or the best mobile RPGs for even more adventures to embark on.
