Pokémon BDSP Drifloon location and evolution

Here's everything you need to know about catching Pokémon BDSP's Drifloon, including its location, time of arrival, and how to evolve it into Drifbloom

Pokemon BDSP Drifloon floating in a field

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are full of weird and wonderful creatures. The Sinnoh Pokédex boasts a nice range of Pokémon. Some are new to generation four, while others made their debut as part of the series’ previous instalments. However, some monsters are more of a pain to catch – certain Pokémon are limited to the Grand Underground, while others require you to form friendships with them to reach the next evolution. Yet, there’s one Pokémon that’s so lazy it only shows up on Fridays.

Yes, you read that right, and that’s where our handy Pokémon BDSP Drifloon guide comes in. This glorified balloon shows up once a week, but that’s not all. It can’t even be bothered to make the rounds, so you have to head to a specific location to catch it – assuming it doesn’t just float away and leave you hanging.

Of course, the games are full of different creatures. Still, certain Pokémon are only obtainable in Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl, so be sure to check out our Pokémon BDSP exclusives guide to discover which ones you can catch. Then, you should look at our comprehensive Pokémon BDSP underground guide. It’s full of treasures, Pokémon, and caverns. But why stop there? We also have a Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl codes mystery gift codes guide if you want some freebies.

How do I get Pokémon BDSP’s Drifloon?

As we’ve already mentioned, this ghost Pokémon only gets down on Fridays. As for its location, this Pokémon likes to chill near the Valley Windworks. However, before it appears, you must defeat Team Galactic commander Mars, and finish the storyline for that area.

Of course, you don’t actually have to wait until Friday if you’re willing to be a rule breaker. Instead, you can go to the settings on your Nintendo Switch to change the date and time settings.

Just follow these steps:

  • Fire up your Switch
  • Head to settings
  • Select date and time
  • Turn off the synchronised clock
  • Change the date to a Friday
  • Jump into Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl
  • Head to the Valley Windworks and catch a balloon

How do I evolve Pokémon BDSP’s Drifloon?

Drifloon is a stage one Pokémon that evolves into Drifblim when it hits level 28. As with any creature in your party, you gain experience by taking part in trainer battles or facing off against wild Pokémon. Though you may want to look at our ghost Pokémon weakness guide to ensure it doesn’t fall in battle.

Fortunately, Pokémon BDSP’s EXP share means that all monsters on your party get a boost in experience each time you take down an opposing Pokémon. However, the creature that does the beating collects the most XP.
